Designer Sunglasses Heist at The Orchards – Police Hunt Two Masked Thieves
£ Thousands Stolen in Broad Daylight Raid
Sussex Police are on the lookout after two men swiped thousands of pounds worth of designer sunglasses from Leightons Opticians at The Orchards Shopping Centre. The brazen theft took place at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 13 May 2025.
Posing as casual shoppers, the suspects grabbed multiple high-end shades. Staff grew suspicious as the pair made a dash for the door.
Employees quickly locked display cases and tried to stop the crooks, but the suspects pushed past and escaped with the loot.
CCTV Captures Suspects Strolling Near Scene
Clear CCTV footage caught the duffel-wearing duo wandering through The Orchards shortly after the job. Police have released detailed descriptions:
- Suspect 1: Light blue baseball cap with an ‘A’, white vest, tan jeans, and a rucksack.
- Suspect 2: Black cap, blue tracksuit with pink Nike logos, matching Nike trainers, a rucksack, and a short beard with moustache.
Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
Officers want anyone with CCTV or mobile footage from the area at the time to step up and help. The stolen goods are high-value, and identifying these men is crucial.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “We believe these two individuals may be responsible for a high-value retail theft, and their identification is vital to recovering the stolen goods.”
