Four Men Locked Up Over Violent Hotel Siege in Rotherham

Four men, including two brothers, have been handed jail sentences for their roles in a chaotic rampage at the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers, Rotherham, this August.

Police Pelted with Concrete and Rocks

The violence broke out outside the hotel as officers guarded the building and its guests. Jason McGuire, 31, from Mexborough, was caught on camera hurling rocks and concrete slabs at police, smashing hotel windows in the process.

When confronted with the footage, McGuire refused to answer questions during his police interview. He later pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was sentenced to three years in prison at Sheffield Crown Court on 11 August.

His brother, Scott McGuire, 34, also from Mexborough, was filmed kicking objects at officers. Despite claiming he was only there to “get a meal,” he refused to say more during questioning. Scott also admitted to violent disorder and received the same three-year sentence.

Public Appeals Lead to Further Arrests

Keethan Reeve-Lawson, 22, of Barnsley, was spotted shouting at police before running forward and throwing missiles. He was identified thanks to public tips, arrested, and jailed for 22 months after pleading guilty.

Daniel Kazemi, 35, from Bolton-upon-Dearne, tried to hide his identity by pulling a hood over his face but was clearly caught on video pushing against police shields and launching objects. He too was caught following public alerts and handed a 22-month sentence after admitting violent disorder.

Police Issue Strong Warning

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson condemned the attacks. “Our officers faced sustained aggression while simply doing their job to protect people inside the hotel. These jail terms send a clear message that such disorder will not be tolerated,” the spokesperson said.
