Prisoner Barricades himself in and sets fire to cell as Protest

Emergency services were called to Winchester prison after an inmate deliberately set fire to his cell. Firefighters from Winchester and Eastleigh were called out to Winchester Prison, Romsey Road, at around 7pm last night A Prison source said: “The prisoner had barricaded himself in his cell by putting books and furniture up against the door, he’d then set fire to everything. A Spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Said “When we got there, prison staff had managed to get the prisoner out of the cell and the staff had put the fire out. “We went in to the cell to make sure the fire was out properly We left at around 8pm.”
