East Surrey Hospital in Flames After Ambulances Ignite
Three ambulances burst into flames at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill this afternoon, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Firefighters rushed to the scene just after 2:15pm to tackle the blaze.
Ambulances Ablaze as Fire Spreads to Hospital
Surrey Fire and Rescue teams are battling the fire, which not only engulfed the ambulances but has also spread to part of the hospital building. The cause remains unknown as investigations continue.
Emergency Services Divert Patients to Nearby Hospitals
Surrey Police are assisting at the scene, while South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) confirmed it is redirecting patients to neighbouring hospitals due to the incident.
A SECAmb spokeswoman said: “SECAmb will be taking patients to neighbouring hospitals, depending on patient location, medical condition and hospital capacity. This includes Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and others.
