Armed Police Raid Southsea Pub and Seize Firearm
Armed officers launched a dramatic swoop on a Southsea pub tonight, recovering a firearm from rooms above the Jolly Sailor on Clarence Parade.
20 Armed Cops Storm Jolly Sailor
Eyewitnesses say around 20 officers in full tactical gear raided the accommodation above the popular pub. One local builder told us, “We were forced to stay in the pub, the police wouldn’t let anybody leave. I wasn’t complaining!”
Firearm Found in Guest Room
Hampshire Police confirmed the raid followed the discovery of a firearm in a guest’s room. A spokesperson said:
“A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis. A 21-year-old man from Scotland is also in custody for possessing a firearm without a certificate.”
Police Rule Out Link to Morning Jewellers’ Robbery
Officers initially kept details under wraps but confirmed to Spotted portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth the armed raid was unrelated to a separate attempted jewellery heist earlier in Southsea today.
Both suspects remain held at Portsmouth Central Police Station and are assisting with enquiries.
