Man Faces Court Over Shocking Andover Child Sex Abuse Claims

A 68-year-old man has appeared in court charged with disturbing child sex offences dating back decades. Philip Banning, from Penhow, Wales, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 7 March) following a Hampshire Police probe.

24 Counts of Indecent Assault

Banning faces 24 counts of indecent assault against girls under 16 during the 1970s and 1980s. The alleged offences took place while he was coaching at Andover Athletics Club.

Banned to Return at Winchester Crown Court

He has been released on bail and is set to appear at Winchester Crown Court on April 10. The case is being investigated by Hampshire Constabulary’s Operation Marmion Team.

Police Urge Victims to Come Forward

Authorities are calling on anyone affected by child abuse, or who has information, to get in touch.
