Chertsey Burglar Locked Up for Three Years After Brazen Break-Ins
A Chertsey crook is facing three years behind bars after pleading guilty to multiple burglary and fraud offences at Guildford Crown Court on 14 May.
Darren Turner’s Night Raid on Sleeping Woman
Darren Turner, 35, of Barker Road, Chertsey, struck under cover of darkness on 4 July 2017. He broke into a home on Coombe Drive, Addlestone, where a lone woman was asleep. Turner snatched a handbag containing a phone, cash, glasses, and a photo of the victim’s late husband.
He tried to use the victim’s bank card but was foiled after entering an invalid PIN. CCTV caught him at a cash machine attempting to withdraw cash, sealing his fate.
Tech Evidence Nails the Burglar
Police used mobile phone data to place Turner in the area at the time of the crime. This digital breadcrumb trail led to his arrest and charges for burglary and fraud.
