Ten Arrested Over Brutal Attack on German Student in Canterbury
Ten suspects have been charged after a brutal assault on a German student rocked Canterbury city centre. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched an investigation following the shocking attack on a teenage boy on the evening of Thursday 6 June 2019.
Serious Assault in Canterbury
Police rushed to Rose Lane after reports emerged that a teenage boy had been violently attacked. The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.
Charges and Arrests
On Tuesday 3 December 2019, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges against ten individuals. They face serious allegations including grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder.
- George Potter, 18, of Eaton Place, Margate, is charged with the attack. He also faces extra charges for theft of a screwdriver and Stanley knife from a shop, plus possession of an offensive weapon in public.
- A 17-year-old boy from Canterbury is also charged with the assault. He faces similar theft charges and possession of cannabis.
