Shoplifting Pair Busted Stealing Trousers in Maidstone
A brazen shoplifting duo was nabbed after Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) caught them red-handed in Maidstone town centre.

Just after 10.30am on Monday 30 December, PCSOs patrolling Union Street spotted a man and woman clutching suspected stolen trousers. The suspects were quizzed on the spot, leading to police officers searching a nearby department store in Week Street.
Charged and Remanded
Matthew Stannard, 47, and Kathy Banks, 51, both from Regent Close, Maidstone, were arrested and later charged with theft of clothing valued at £225. To make matters worse for Stannard, he was also slapped with a charge for refusing to provide a non-intimate sample in custody for a Class A drug test.
Next Stop: Medway Magistrates’ Court
The pair have been remanded in custody and are set to appear via video link at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 31 December.
