Two Arrested After Fatal Lambeth Stabbing Horror
Police swooped at 5.55pm on Thursday, August 20, following reports of a violent fight near Overton Road, SW9. The scene quickly filled with officers, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance.
A 26-year-old man was found with stab wounds on Overton Road. He was rushed to hospital and remains under police guard. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening. However, he has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
Tragically, a second victim, a 20-year-old man, was discovered stabbed in Wynne Road, SW9. Despite emergency treatment, he died in hospital at 8.53pm. Next of kin have been informed, with formal identification pending. A post-mortem is due at Greenwich Mortuary on Saturday, August 22.
Overturned Car Linked to Deadly Incident
Nearby Marcella Road saw an overturned car, believed connected to the stabbing drama. Police say the vehicle likely collided with another car before flipping, but no injuries have been reported from this crash.
Suspects in Custody as Specialist Crime Unit Takes Over
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is now held at a south London police station. A Specialist Crime investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh, is underway.
“We’re making swift progress to piece together the events that led to this young man’s death,” said DCI Vandenbergh. “This happened on a busy street in front of horrified onlookers. We’ve arrested suspects and spoken to witnesses, but we need more help. If you have any information, images or videos, please come forward. Let’s bring justice for the victim’s family.”
