Shock as Police Snap Inappropriate Photos at Double Murder Scene

Police plunging to new lows: officers caught taking inappropriate, non-official photos at the tragic murder scene of Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman in Fryent Country Park, Wembley. The Metropolitan Police Service’s Directorate of Professional Standards was alerted to the disturbing incident on Wednesday, 17 June.

WhatsApp Scandal Sparks Investigation

The offensive images were shared in a closed WhatsApp group, prompting the Met to swiftly refer the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). An independent probe was immediately launched.

Two Officers Arrested and Suspended

  • On Monday, 22 June, two officers from the North East Command were arrested by the IOPC on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
  • They have both since been released under investigation and suspended from duty.

Investigation Widens: Six More Officers Under Scrutiny

The IOPC’s deep dive uncovered further misconduct. Six additional officers from the North East Command are now under investigation for their involvement with the inappropriate photos.

Moreover, unrelated misconduct issues involving a small number of officers have also been flagged by the watchdog.

So far, no other officers have been suspended or placed on restricted duties.

The IOPC has handed its final report to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards, which is reviewing the findings before passing them to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Met says it is fully backing the independent investigation. The families of Bibaa and Nicole have been informed of the developments.
