Serious Crash on Cheap Street

Dorset Police rushed to the scene at 12:08pm on Thursday, 29 October 2020, after an 18-tonne HGV struck a pedestrian in the Waitrose car park on Cheap Street.

Victim Airlifted to Hospital

The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s from Sturminster Newton, was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. Her injuries are believed to be life-changing, police confirmed.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

PC Donal Doyle from the traffic unit said: “We are investigating the full circumstances. Anyone who was in the car park at the time and has dashcam footage is urged to check and share it with us.”

He added: “Thanks to the public for their patience during road closures required for emergency services and scene examinations.”
