Baby Pushchair Hit by Car on Pedestrian Crossing – Mum Speaks Out

Kelly Pegg, mother of the six-month-old baby involved in a shocking hit-and-run, has shared her distress. She says she can’t stop thinking about how much worse it could have been if she had been a few steps forward.

Car Clips Pram Outside Seafront Fish Shop

The terrifying incident took place outside Bill’s Fish Shop on the seafront around 1.30pm on November 19. CCTV footage shows a black car speeding towards two women crossing at a pedestrian crossing.

The car didn’t slow down and clipped the front of the baby’s pushchair before driving off, leaving mum Kelly and her friend shaken and stunned.

Fortunately, No Injuries – But Shock Runs Deep

Thankfully, the six-month-old and two-year-old toddlers escaped without physical injury. But Kelly, 33, said the experience has left her traumatised.

“The pram wheel spun around after it was hit – you never expect a car to hit you on a pedestrian crossing, that’s supposed to be a safe place,” Kelly said. “I haven’t been out since. When I do, I’ll avoid the area after that awful experience. It’s a real shame because it’s one of our favourite seaside spots.”

Police Launch Appeal for Witnesses

PC David Bew, who is investigating the case, has issued an urgent call for witnesses and dashcam footage. He warns this incident is a stark reminder of the dangers caused by careless driving.
