Swindon Street Racer Busted Days After Injunction

Wiltshire Police and Swindon Borough Council are cracking down hard on dangerous car meets with their Operation Staysail. Zackeriah Gordon, 22, from Shrivenham Road, Swindon, was slapped with an injunction on October 17 after a string of reckless driving and anti-social antics.

Revving Engines and Drift Chaos Just Days Later

Only four days after his injunction, Gordon was spotted doing wheelspins at Tesco’s Ocotal Way car park and drifting wildly around Greenbridge Retail Park. Police swooped in and arrested him for breaching the anti-social behaviour order.

Eight-Day Suspended Sentence and Vehicle Seizure

On October 25, Gordon pleaded guilty. He earned an eight-day custodial sentence – suspended until the injunction ends in 2024. His car was seized, and he coughed up £150 to get it back. This tough action sends a clear warning to anyone causing chaos on Swindon’s roads.

Police and Council Vow to Keep Up Pressure

Sgt Joel Coombes said, “This is a prime example of local policing and councils joining forces to crush disruptive car meets. Gordon’s driving put lives at risk and caused mayhem. We won’t hesitate to use every legal tool to protect our communities.”

Swindon Councillor Cathy Martyn added, “We’re working hand-in-hand with Wiltshire Police to stop these dangerous car meets. Safety for residents and road users comes first, and sometimes enforcement is the only way. This sends a strong message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Residents are urged to keep reporting reckless driving and anti-social behaviour to help keep Swindon’s streets safe.
