Nutcracker Nicked in Sheerness—Man Busted!

A Christmas nutcracker statue has been stolen from Broadway in Sheerness, sparking a police probe and arrests. The festive theft went down on Friday, December 5, 2025, with Kent Police called at 1:33pm to reports of the missing decoration.

Man Faces Multiple Theft Charges

Kent Police arrested two men connected to the nutcracker caper. John Bain, 39, from Invicta Road, Sheerness, now faces three theft charges. Two are from separate shoplifting sprees at Neats Court Retail Park on November 25 and December 1. He’s currently out on bail and set for a court hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

A second suspect, a 59-year-old Sheerness man, was released without charge.
