Tesco Issues Urgent Recall: Throw These Pates Away NOW!

Tesco has launched an emergency recall on several popular pates after incorrect use-by dates were discovered. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has flagged these products as a serious health risk, warning they could be unsafe to eat due to potential bacterial contamination.

Which Pates Are Hit?

The recall targets these 170g tubs with a dodgy use-by date of 5 January:

  • Tesco Coarse Farmhouse Pate
  • Coarse Ardennes Pate
  • Smooth Chicken Liver Pate

The use-by date printed isn’t reliable, meaning the products might be contaminated and dangerous.

Tesco and FSA: What You Need to Do

Tesco is putting up alerts in all stores stocking the affected pates. If you’ve bought any of these, stop eating immediately.

The Food Standards Agency warned: “Tesco is recalling various Tesco Pates as they have been labelled with an incorrect use by date printed on the pack. The products may pose a microbiological risk, making them unsafe to eat. If you have bought any of the above products, please do not consume them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were purchased for a full refund.”

No receipt? No problem. Tesco will give you a full refund regardless.

How To Stay Safe and Claim a Refund

  • Check your fridge now for Tesco Coarse Farmhouse, Ardennes, or Smooth Chicken Liver Pate with a 5 January use-by date.
  • Do not eat these pates under any circumstances.
  • Return the product to any Tesco for a full refund — no receipt needed.
  • Look out for in-store notices with more info about the recall.

Don’t Risk It: Protect Your Health

This recall highlights the real dangers of incorrect expiry dates. Eating these pates could lead to serious illness from harmful bacteria. Tesco and the FSA urge shoppers to act now — your health depends on it.
