Omed Pirot, 31, and Shahab Husseini, 25, were found guilty of affray at Newport Crown Court following a violent showdown outside a Blackwood hairdresser on 13 February. The clash involved 13 men from two competing barbershops: Kurds Barbers in Newbridge and Marmaris Turkish Barbers in Blackwood.

The feud boiled over after Pirot, who worked at Marmaris, revealed plans to open a new branch in Newbridge—a move fiercely opposed by Kurds Barbers’ crew.

On the afternoon of the drama, four cars rolled into Blackwood from Newbridge, parking outside Absolutely Fabulous hairdresser at 2.30pm. Tempers flared fast, exploding into a street brawl with punches and kicks flying.

  • Police found five men injured outside Marmaris Barbers.

Accused Deny Knife Use But CCTV Tells Bleeding Story

Husseini insisted he acted in self-defence after finishing a haircut. But prosecutors unveiled CCTV footage showing him brandishing a weapon and making slashing movements at rivals. Amid the brawl, Pirot suffered a fractured skull after being knocked to the ground.

While Sardam Ebrahimi, 27, was cleared of affray, five other men have pleaded guilty.
