A 23-year-old man has died and seven others were injured after a BMW smashed into three other vehicles during a police pursuit on the A21.
Tragic Crash on Busy A21
Emergency crews rushed to the scene at around 8.20pm on Saturday, April 11, after the northbound BMW collided with three cars. The BMW driver, a local from Hailsham, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.
Multiple Injuries Reported
- Two passengers in another vehicle suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital
- Five additional people sustained minor injuries requiring hospital treatment
Police Investigation Underway
The BMW was being chased by police shortly before the crash. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an independent inquiry into the incident.
“This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family of this young man and all those affected,” said Detective Superintendent Andy Wolstenholme. “An investigation is underway, and there will be increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.” “We thank the public for their patience during the emergency response.
