Man assaulted and raped near Speaker’s Corner
A man was brutally assaulted at knifepoint and raped in Hyde Park, with police now appealing for urgent help to catch the attacker. The victim was approached by a man who demanded sex, brandished a knife, and slashed the victim’s abdomen when he refused before committing the attack. The incident took place near Speaker’s Corner around June 2024 but was only reported to police on August 31, 2024.
E-Fit released – police hunting suspect
Police have circulated the first e-fit image of the suspect, hoping to jog memories. The man is described as around 5ft 8in tall, with short dark hair and a noticeable cut above his left eye. He also has a distinctive flame tattoo on his arm. The victim mentioned the suspect spoke in what he believed to be Arabic.
Crime investigation underway – police urge witnesses to come forward
Detective Constable Kira Halson, leading the investigation, said: “Since this sexual assault was reported to us, officers have conducted extensive enquiries – including circulating the suspect’s e-fit to thousands of officers and checking details against national police databases.” “Despite this, we’ve been unable to identify the man in the picture.
