Heartbreaking Incident at Embankment

On Friday, May 10, disaster struck at the Embankment in Wellingborough. Just after 1:45pm, emergency services rushed to the scene after reports that 17-year-old Ronalds Abele was struggling in open water. Despite heroic rescue efforts by police, paramedics, and fire crews, the teenager was found in critical condition.

Rescue Teams Battle Against the Clock

Firefighters from Rushden and Irthlingborough, along with a specialist unit from Mereway, worked tirelessly to pull Ronalds from the water. He was immediately airlifted to Northampton General Hospital, but, heartbreakingly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Family Grieves Amidst Community Shock

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss. “This was a tragic incident, and Ronalds’ family has requested privacy during this incredibly distressing time,” they said.
