Man Dead and Several Injured in Knife Attack at Bodmin’s Victoria Square
Police rushed to Victoria Square on Castle Canyke Road at 3.15am on Sunday after reports of a serious stabbing. Witnesses told officers someone was armed with a knife during the violent altercation.
One Man Dead, Several Others Hurt
A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. At least seven other men and one woman were injured and taken to hospital, though none are in life-threatening condition.
Arrest Made as Police Launch Murder Probe
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
Police Appeal for Eyewitnesses and CCTV Footage
“This investigation is in its early stages,” said Superintendent Rob Youngman. “You’ll see a heightened police presence in Bodmin today while we gather evidence. The community will understandably be shaken by this. Our thoughts are with the victims’ families.”
“Cordons remain in place while enquiries continue. If you witnessed anything or have dash-cam, mobile phone, or CCTV footage from Victoria Square or Castle Canyke Road, please come forward.”
