Man Dead After Knife Attack in Bodmin – Seven Injured
Police were scrambled at 3.15am on Sunday to Victoria Square, Castle Canyke Road, following a violent fracas.
Reports say a knife was involved, with multiple people suffering stab wounds. A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are receiving support.
Seven Others Hurt but No Life-Threatening Injuries
At least seven men and women were injured in the chaos and rushed to hospital. Thankfully, none are believed to be in life-threatening condition.
24-Year-Old Arrested on Murder and Attempted Murder Charges
A 24-year-old man from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.
Police Urge Public to Help, Warn Against Speculation
“This is a live and active investigation,” said Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson of the Major Crime Investigation Team. “We are treating this as an isolated incident and not seeking anyone else. Please don’t speculate on social media but report any information that might assist.”
East Cornwall’s Policing Superintendent Rob Youngman added: “Expect a heightened police presence in Bodmin as cordons remain in place. Our thoughts are with the victims’ families. Anyone with dash-cam, mobile, or CCTV footage from Victoria Square or Castle Canyke Road should come forward.”
