Fatal Collision Rocks Quiet Road
Shona McKinlay, 46, from Dreghorn, died at the scene after a horrific smash between Ayr and Coylton, just near Holmston Roundabout. The crash happened at 5.55am on Friday, 28 October.
Van and Audi TT Involved in Deadly Crash
Shona was driving a Renault Kangoo van when it collided with a blue Audi TT. She was pronounced dead instantly.
- The van’s 44-year-old female passenger was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
- The 23-year-old Audi driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, also with serious injuries.
Road Shut for 11 Hours as Police Probe Crash
The road remained closed for nearly 11 hours while officers conducted a full investigation at the scene.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“Our thoughts are with Shona’s family and friends at this difficult time,” said Sergeant Stewart Taylor from the Road Policing Unit in Irvine. “We are continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
