Man Doused with Suspected Acid in Oldham Doorstep Attack
Just before 10.40pm, police were called to Burlington Avenue, Oldham, after a 39-year-old man was attacked with a liquid believed to be acid.
Victim Attacked Outside Home
The victim answered his front door when a man threw liquid from a bottle at him. The attacker then fled on foot towards Manley Road. Witnesses say the attacker arrived at the address with another male.
Emergency teams treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital. He suffered serious facial burns but is now in stable condition and not life-threatening.
Police Hunt Suspect Who ‘Deliberately Targeted’ Victim
Detectives from Oldham CID, working with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, are investigating to identify the liquid and track down the culprit. Officers believe the victim knew the attacker and that the assault was targeted.
