Huge Farm Blaze in Rainham Sparks Massive Fire Response

A fierce fire broke out at a farm on Meresborough Road, Rainham on Sunday evening, 17 August, sparking a major emergency response.

Six Fire Engines Battle Blazing Apple Crates

At its peak, six fire engines and a bulk water carrier were scrambled to the scene after stacks of apple crates went up in flames. Thick smoke billowed across the Medway area, causing concern among local residents.

As a safety measure, officials advised nearby residents to keep their windows and doors firmly shut to avoid inhaling the heavy smoke.

Firefighters Bring Blaze Under Control Overnight

Kent Fire and Rescue crews tackled the blaze using powerful high-pressure hose reel jets to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the farm.

By 10.30pm, the large turnout was scaled back to just one fire engine, with firefighters keeping a close watch overnight to tackle any lingering hotspots.

Officials confirmed by 10.45am the next day, Monday 18 August, that the blaze was fully extinguished and the incident closed.

Police Assist Fire Crews at Busy Scene

“Crews worked hard to contain the fire and prevent further spread. We’d like to thank residents for their patience while the incident was dealt with,” said a fire service spokesperson.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported following the dramatic farm fire.
