Gun Threat Triggers Dramatic Police Siege in Walthamstow
Armed cops launched a massive operation at a Stow Crescent home in Walthamstow this morning after a man reportedly threatened to kill someone with a gun. The frightening stand-off stretched on for hours as negotiators tried to calm the tense scene.
Police Storm Property, Fire Shots in High-Stakes Confrontation
After a four-hour standoff, officers forced their way into the property at around 2pm. Shots were fired during the encounter. Medics treated the man at the scene before rushing him to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Inquiry Launched as IOPC Steps In
Officers found what’s believed to be a firearm inside the house. The street remains sealed off while cops investigate. The Met has confirmed the case is being reviewed by professional standards and is now with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
A Met Police spokesperson said: “The incident is contained and there is no wider threat to the public. We urge residents to avoid the area while officers carry out their investigations.”
