Young Cop Found Dead Amid Grooming Probe
Police officer Ryan Gadsden, 23, was found dead in a Romford park on September 25. The Met says his death is not being treated as suspicious. Dog walkers made the grim discovery.
Investigation into Grooming Allegations
PC Gadsden was suspended and under investigation after allegations surfaced in March. A young female cadet he supervised filed a complaint, sparking a probe. Additional claims include Gadsden giving a gift to another female recruit.
IOPC and Met Police Respond
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is overseeing the inquiry. An inquest is set for next year to determine how Gadsden died.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the officer was suspended when he died and stressed that his family is being supported. A mandatory referral to the IOPC was made due to prior police contact.
An IOPC spokesperson said: “Our condolences go out to those affected. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
Community Shock and Ongoing Investigation
The case has rattled the community and police alike, given the serious allegations and tragic end. The Met and IOPC vow to carry on with a full investigation to uncover the truth.
