Two Arrested After Cyclist Killed in Sunderland Hit-and-Run
Two suspects have been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a cyclist in Sunderland.
Tragic Early Morning Crash on Hylton Road
Police were called to Hylton Road shortly after 1.20 a.m. on Sunday after reports of a collision involving a car and a bicycle. The cyclist, a man in his forties, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver fled in a blue BMW, which was later recovered by officers.
Two Held on Suspicion of Dangerous Driving
A 42-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both were interviewed and released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“Any death on our roads is a tragedy, and all our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this terrible time,” said Northumbria Police Sergeant Dave Roberts.
“We are committed to determining exactly what occurred and will use every available tactic to provide effective justice.”
