Police Lock Down Cemetery as Investigation Intensifies
Officers were called to the cemetery off Chester Road just before 6.20pm on Sunday. Upon arrival, they cordoned off a significant section with police tape. Since then, the police presence hasn’t eased. By Tuesday, a forensic tent was up as detectives combed the scene for clues.
Northumbria Police Launch Murder Inquiry
“Shortly before 6.20pm on Sunday, police received a report of a body being found in a concealed grassy area near to Bishopwearmouth Cemetery in Sunderland. Officers remain at the scene to carry out inquiries, and an investigation has been launched into the discovery,” said a Northumbria Police spokesperson.
