Intruder Sparks Panic at Preston Station: Tampering with Train Controls
British Transport Police (BTP) are hunting a trespasser who brazenly broke into a driver’s cabin and fiddled with train controls at Preston station in the early hours of July 27, 2024. The incident has sparked serious safety alarms.
Close Call on Stationary Train
Around 3:20am, an unknown individual slipped into the driver’s cabin of a stationary train at Preston. The suspect tampered with several key controls, risking passengers’ safety and train operations. Luckily, the train was empty, and no one was hurt.
BTP Launches Urgent Appeal
Detective Inspector Rachel Davies, leading the inquiry, stressed the gravity of the situation: “This trespassing and interference with train controls is illegal and extremely dangerous. We’re determined to catch the culprit and keep our railways safe.”
BTP are urging anyone near Preston station in those early hours or anyone who spotted suspicious behaviour to come forward immediately.
