Another Manchester Terror Victim Named: Martyn Hett, 29
Shock and sadness deepen as Martyn Hett from Stockport becomes the latest confirmed victim of the Manchester Arena attack. The 29-year-old was at the Ariana Grande concert with a friend but got separated just before the explosion ripped through the venue.
Tributes Pour In for Life-Of-The-Party Martyn
Martyn is the 10th victim to be publicly named after Monday night’s horror. Known for his vibrant personality, he was set to jet off to America for a two-month adventure the day after the attack. Russell Hayward, Martyn’s ex-boyfriend and long-time friend, broke the tragic news on Facebook this morning.
Martyn was no stranger to screens, too. He appeared on Come Dine With Me and Tattoo Fixers — where he famously swapped a leg tattoo for a larger ink of Coronation Street’s Deirdre Barlow behind bars. His pals remember him as a bright spark.
- “It’s devastating. He was the life of any party,” said James Bourke.
- Mark Holbrook added, “Anyone who met him saw he was vibrant, exciting and fun-loving.”
- Jamie Henderson wrote, “He had an aura that brightened up any room. A guy that will be sadly missed.”
Martyn’s Last Chats Full of Dreams
Speaking personally, I chatted with Martyn just days before the tragedy. He was buzzing about his US trip and had even extended his holiday by two weeks, hoping to make new friends and soak up more experiences. We talked about ’90s TV and his upcoming feature on the classic game show Supermarket Sweep.
One photo he sent perfectly captured his infectious spirit — a testament to the joyous soul taken too soon.
