Man punched so hard his eye socket shattered after pram accident in West Norwood
Serious assault over minor accident
Detectives have released a photo of a man they want to question after a terrifying assault in West Norwood.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was pushing his niece’s pram on Chapel Road, SE27, just before 12:55pm on 26 November 2021. The pram accidentally rolled onto the foot of an unknown man.
In a shocking overreaction, the man punched the victim in the face with such force it broke his eye socket. The victim’s eye was bleeding heavily when police arrived.
Victim forced into multiple surgeries
The injured man was rushed to a north London hospital. He later had to undergo three surgeries to repair the damage.
Police hunt violent attacker
Detective Constable Szilvi Jokai of Central South CID said: “There is absolutely no justifiable reason to attack someone so furiously that they require repeat surgery. But to brutally beat someone in front of a child, for what was an accident, is inexcusable.”
“The attack was extremely distressing for the victim and we are determined to bring the person responsible to justice. We will not tolerate violence in any form.”
