Man Charged Over Brutal Deptford Stabbing
A 44-year-old Dalziell Wedderburn has been charged with the murder of 21-year-old Robert Robinson in Deptford.
Robert Robinson Fatally Stabbed on Carteret Way
Robert Robinson was stabbed to death late on Thursday night, June 6, on Carteret Way. Police were called to the scene at 10:35 pm after reports of a stabbing. Despite emergency services’ best efforts, Robinson died at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed his death was caused by multiple incised wounds.
Two Men Arrested, One Charged
Wedderburn was one of two men arrested shortly after the incident. He was formally charged with murder on Sunday, June 9, and is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on June 10. The second suspect, a 50-year-old man, has been released on bail with a date set for early September.
Police Appeal to Deptford Community for Clues
“This is a horrific crime committed by persons who chose to arm themselves with weapons and blight our communities. A young man has died in brutal circumstances, and his family is grieving,” said Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, leading the Met’s homicide inquiry.
“We believe the local community holds the key to solving this crime. Any piece of information, no matter how small, could help us bring justice for Robert’s family.”
