Brutal Abuser Jailed for 13 Years After Four Years of Terrorising Teenage Girl
Kyle Pugh subjected an 18-year-old girl to four years of horrific abuse. His reign of terror included coercive control, physical violence, and sexual assaults.
Control, Violence, and Heartbreak
Pugh dictated every aspect of the girl’s life, from what she wore to banning her from wearing makeup. He regularly pulled her hair and bit her. He accused her of cheating without cause and violently lashed out.
- He hit her legs with a vacuum pole and a games controller.
- He punched her in the face for accepting a social media friend request.
- She bore bruises and even a black eye, which she lied about to friends and family to hide the abuse.
Living in Fear
Pugh used threats to stop her from speaking out, chillingly telling her, “You think you’ll come out of this alive?” He constantly monitored her phone and social media, making her too scared to seek help.
Justice Served at Birmingham Crown Court
After finally breaking free and reporting him in December 2021, Pugh was convicted last Friday. The 19-year-old was found guilty of:
- Three counts of rape
- Sexual assault
- Making a threat to kill
- Coercive control
- Two counts of actual bodily harm
- Harassment causing fear of violence
He was sentenced to 13 years behind bars.
Praise for Victim’s Bravery
“Pugh’s cruelty and controlling behaviour is inexcusable,” said Detective Constable Laura Rogers from the Child Abuse Investigation Team. “He isolated the girl from her loved ones and made her doubt herself. She made it clear she did not consent, yet he persisted.”
“When it comes to rape, there are no excuses – a ‘no’ is a crime, and we will fight to bring offenders to justice. The victim’s bravery in coming forward made this possible. Pugh has been given the punishment he deserves.”
