Man Dies After Brutal Scorton Avenue Burglary
Police were called at 6.50pm on Monday, April 10, following an aggravated burglary at a flat on Scorton Avenue. Three men stormed the property, assaulted a man, then fled the scene.
Victim Suffers Fatal Injuries
The victim, 44-year-old John Hutchinson from Blackpool, was treated by paramedics at around 9.10pm after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at the same address. He was rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but tragically died later.
A Home Office post-mortem revealed John died from internal injuries caused by the earlier assault. His next of kin have been informed.
Seven Arrested in Murder Inquiry
So far, six people were arrested, with three charged and three released under investigation. A seventh man, aged 33 from Netherton, was arrested in a morning raid in Merseyside and is held on suspicion of murder.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone with information, particularly about a grey Ford Fiesta, registration SG18 BGU. The vehicle, which police believe travelled from Merseyside to Blackpool on April 10, is currently in police custody.
Police Plea for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Hutchinson’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We are working tirelessly to bring answers for his loved ones.”
“Seven people have now been arrested as part of our ongoing investigation, but we still need to hear from anyone who was near Scorton Avenue around the time of the assault.”
“If you saw anyone acting suspiciously or have dashcam or doorbell footage that might help, please come forward.”
