Horrific Attack on Northampton Cops: Boiling Water Thrown, Officer Suffers Serious Burns

Cop Doused in Boiling Water

Two police officers were battered in a shocking assault during a call-out in Northampton last weekend. One officer was doused with a kettle of boiling water while attending an incident in Abington just before midnight on Saturday, November 7.

The officer endured severe second-degree burns on the left side of his body. He now faces plastic surgery after the horrifying attack. His colleague also suffered minor burns to one hand. Both were rushed to Northampton General Hospital for treatment.

Chief Constable Hails Quick-Thinking Colleagues

Chief Constable Nick Adderley praised the rapid response of the officers present, which stopped injuries from getting even worse. He said: “This was an appalling attack on two officers who had been called to deal with an extremely vulnerable young person. The actions of other officers at the scene were exceptional, especially one whose quick reaction prevented even more serious harm.”

Adderley added: “These incidents highlight the brutal realities our officers face daily. I wish both officers a swift recovery after this traumatic ordeal.”

Police Federation Chair Speaks Out

Sam Dobbs, chair of the Northamptonshire Police Federation, said: “The injured officer had just over two years on the force and was called to what seemed like a normal incident. Instead, he faced horrific injuries. We also recognise the other officers, who used excellent first-aid skills to care for him while arresting the suspect. This shows the real dangers officers tackle and their incredible stoicism — something we all deeply admire.”

Teen Suspect Slapped With Serious Charges

A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene and charged with grievous bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker. She was remanded to Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 9.

She was granted unconditional bail and is set to appear at Wellingborough Youth Court on November 17.
