Dion Marshall, 31, Caught with Hidden Knuckle-Duster in Reading
Dion Marshall, 31, of Beech Road, Reading, has been found guilty of carrying a concealed knuckle-duster. The unanimous verdict came after a swift two-day trial at Reading Crown Court on Friday 30 October.
Arrested in Early Morning Raid
Marshall was arrested at 2.05am on Sunday 3 November 2019 in Friar Street, Reading, for an unrelated offence. During a routine search at Loddon Valley police station, officers uncovered a disguised knuckle-duster tucked in his jacket pocket.
The weapon was cleverly disguised as a key ring but could have inflicted serious injury if used.
Police Clamp Down on Weapons
Marshall was formally charged on 6 February and is set to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday 9 December.
“The weapon had the potential to cause significant injury,” said PC Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson from the Reading Stronghold team. “Thames Valley Police will not tolerate weapons in public places. We are committed to keeping our communities safe by removing weapons from the streets.”
He added: “Anyone thinking of carrying a weapon should be warned that officers have the power to stop and search when they have reasonable grounds. We will continue working tirelessly to keep weapons off our streets.”
