Oxford Man Gets 20 Years for Brutal Rape Charges
Callen Chandler Jones, 27, from Hope Way, Oxford, was sentenced to 20 years behind bars today at Liverpool Crown Court. He was found guilty of 11 counts of rape.
Victim’s Courage Leads to Justice
The victim, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, bravely reported a series of rapes spanning an extended period. Her courage was praised by Detective Inspector Philip Ryan.
“I would like to praise the courage and dignity shown by the victim throughout the investigation,” said DI Ryan. “This result shows that violence against women and girls will simply not be tolerated.”
Police Pledge Support for Victims
DI Ryan added that specially trained officers and Sexual Violence Advocates are on hand to support and protect victims throughout investigations.
“While no sentence will repair the damage Jones has caused, today’s outcome will provide justice and encourage other victims to come forward with confidence,” he said. “We take all reports seriously and are committed to ensuring offenders face the courts.”
Call for Others to Speak Out
The police urge anyone affected by sexual offences—or those worried about someone’s safety—to come forward.
“We have a dedicated team ready to handle your reports with care and professionalism. We will do everything to bring offenders to justice,” DI Ryan concluded.
