Stalker Jailed for Bombarding Victim with 342 Threatening Messages
Jason Withers, 33, from Finstock Avenue, Stoke-on-Trent, was slammed with a 27-month prison sentence on Thursday (12 May) at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. He admitted stalking that caused serious harm and distress, as well as breaching a non-molestation order between 16 and 21 February 2022.
More Than 200 Emails in One Day
The court revealed Withers unleashed over 200 emails on his victim on 1 February alone. After being slapped with a non-molestation order on 16 February, he bombarded them with another 142 messages just hours later. His harassment didn’t stop there — he threatened to steal the victim’s car and even tried to hack their bank account.
Officer Condemns ‘Relentless’ Harassment
“Withers was relentless in his harassment of the victim who understandably was frightened for their life,” said PC Mark Aldridge.
“The psychological impact of Withers’ actions on the victim is immeasurable.
“I’m glad he has been jailed for his prolific offending and hope the victim is able to move on and attempt to rebuild their life.”
