Milton Brown Jailed for 16 Years Over Brutal Rape Attack
Milton Brown, 68, of Bethune Road, N16, has been slammed with a 16-year prison sentence after being found guilty of two counts of rape, one attempted rape, and assault by penetration. He will stay on licence for an additional four years after his release.
The verdict came on Friday, 6 August, following a three-week trial at a London court. Brown was convicted of all charges against him on Monday, 24 May.
Victim’s Brave Escape Sparks Police Hunt
The shocking attack unfolded on the evening of 2 May 2020. The 29-year-old victim was invited to Brown’s home, where she made it clear she only planned to stay 20 minutes. But when she tried to leave, Brown forced her to stay and committed the horrific assault.
In a desperate bid to flee, the victim told Brown she needed to buy cigarettes nearby. Brown accompanied her, but as they walked, the victim spotted night-shift workers repairing water pipes. She ran to them and revealed she had been raped.
The workers immediately called police, forcing Brown to flee on his bike.
Police Track Down Dangerous Predator
Following a swift manhunt involving phone data and multiple house visits, Brown got wind he was wanted. He surrendered himself at Stoke Newington Police Station on 11 May and was arrested.
Detective Sergeant Simon Fields, who led the case, said: “Milton Brown is a highly dangerous predator. I want to praise the victim for her bravery and courage throughout this investigation.”
He added that evidence from a victim of a previous trial — where Brown was acquitted in 2019 — helped strengthen the prosecution’s case.
