Pillion passenger found with machete after fatal motorcycle crash in London
Just after 6:45am on Monday, chaos erupted on Oxford Street when a motorcycle blew through a red light, dodging police on patrol. The bike, carrying two men, made a desperate getaway but was chased onto Tottenham Court Road.

The police pursuit ended violently when the motorcycle smashed into a taxi and street furniture near Warren Street tube station. Despite officers’ efforts to save him, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Specialist officers are now supporting the man’s family through this tragic loss.
Pillion passenger caught with deadly weapon
The second man on the bike, the pillion passenger, was found carrying a machete. He suffered injuries to his leg and arm in the crash and was arrested at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment. Police have confirmed his injuries are non-life-threatening.
Investigations underway
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards and Roads and Transport Policing Command have launched a full investigation into the incident. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has also been notified and is conducting an independent review.
