A Birmingham man faces a long stretch behind bars after a savage attack and rape in Walsall. Simon Tang, 56, was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court for the brutal assault on a sex worker near a Birmingham Street car park last May.

Baseball Bat Blows Leave Victim Bloodied and Bruised

Tang pulled a baseball bat from his car boot and repeatedly bashed the woman. She suffered severe bruising to her legs and head, a grim testament to the ferocity of the attack. Specialist public protection officers teamed up with the victim to nail Tang with a solid case.

Convicted on Multiple Charges

  • Two counts of rape
  • Possession of an offensive weapon
  • Actual bodily harm

The 56-year-old, from Weoley Castle Road, Birmingham, was slammed with a 12-and-a-half-year prison sentence on Monday. He’ll also serve an extended licence period and is ordered to stay on the Sexual Offender Register for life.

Originally scheduled for January 30, Tang’s sentencing now confirms he’ll spend over a decade behind bars for his horrific crimes.
