14-Year-Old Arrested for Murder
Police swiftly arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of murder at 7pm on Tuesday. He remains in custody as detectives dig deeper. The suspect is also being investigated over an unrelated assault on an elderly woman earlier that weekend.
Birmingham Local Policing Area’s Chief Superintendent Richard North branded the stabbing an “appalling incident” and vowed officers are “working round the clock” to find out what happened.
Heartfelt Tributes Pour In for Leo
Diane Henson, Executive Headteacher at Christ Church Academy, paid tribute to Leo, calling him “a lively and happy young man.” She said:
“Leo was adored by his friends and was a bright member of the school community. We are supporting our students through this difficult time and will be opening a book of condolence with the family’s permission.”
Leo’s family has asked for privacy as they mourn, supported by specialist officers.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
West Midlands Police have launched a Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) to collect photos and videos related to the stabbing. Anyone with information is urged to visit mipp.police.uk or call 101, quoting incident reference CAD 3324/21Jan.
Calls for Tougher Knife Crime Laws
The killing of Leo reignites urgent calls to tackle knife crime. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper recently announced plans to clamp down on the online sale of knives as part of a new Crime and Policing Bill. The community remains in shock over the senseless loss of such a young life.
