A Bradford man has been locked up for 11 years after being found guilty of horrendous child sex offences. The conviction came after a painstaking police probe uncovered a trail of abuse.
Police Probe Unearths Shocking Abuse
West Yorkshire Police said the Bradford District Children Vulnerable to Exploitation Team launched the investigation after concerns were raised in 2024 about a missing 16-year-old girl. The inquiry widened, revealing multiple victims.
David Masters, 46, from Brookroyd Lane, Birstall, was hit with a string of chilling charges:
- Sexual activity with a child
- Arranging and facilitating child sexual exploitation
- Causing or inciting sexual exploitation of children
- Previously admitted making and distributing indecent child images
Long Jail Term and Lifetime Bans
On 12 January at Bradford Crown Court, Masters was sentenced to 11 years behind bars. He must also sign the sex offenders’ register for life. Additional Sexual Harm Prevention and restraining orders were imposed to keep his victims safe.
Victims Reveal Devastating Impact
One victim, just 15 when abused, said: “It feels like the colour has gone from my life and everything has gone grey. I don’t think about my future now. I feel directionless and like I don’t know where I’m going or what I can do.”
Another, aged 17 at the time, added: “It feels like my life has become a trap I can’t get out of. I’m trying to rebuild my life after what he did, but sometimes it feels like I will never get back to normal, and I can never be the person I always wanted to be.”
Police Promise to Protect Children
PC Helena Stroud from Bradford’s Children Vulnerable to Exploitation Team said:
“We welcome the sentence handed down to Masters. He is a dangerous individual who exploited children for his own personal gain. Police and partners are committed to protecting and safeguarding children from harm and bringing perpetrators of child exploitation to justice. Our specialist teams work tirelessly to investigate reports, identify suspects, and safeguard vulnerable individuals across our communities. We urge anyone with concerns or information about child exploitation or sexual offences to come forward. Reporting these crimes is vital to protecting victims and preventing further harm. Together, we can protect the most vulnerable and ensure that West Yorkshire remains a safe place for children to grow and thrive.”
