Young Cyclist in Critical Condition After Van Collision on New Oxford Street

Serious Crash Shakes Central London

A cyclist in his 20s was left fighting for his life after a nasty collision with a van on New Oxford Street near Tottenham Court Road on Saturday morning, April 12.

The smash happened just before 11:00am, triggering a rapid emergency response from Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service. Paramedics found the cyclist severely injured and rushed him to hospital. He remains in a life-threatening condition.

Driver Busted at the Scene

A man was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by careless driving and is currently being held in police custody. The Metropolitan Police confirmed:

“A man has been arrested and remains in custody on suspicion of causing injuries by careless driving after a van struck a cyclist in New Oxford Street at 10:59am on Saturday, April 12.

The cyclist, a man in his 20s, was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.”

Investigation Underway – Police Seek Witnesses

Police have not named the cyclist or the driver. They are urging anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward.

New Oxford Street, a busy route linking Holborn and Oxford Street, was partly closed as emergency services dealt with the incident and launched their inquiry.
