Drug Dealer Jailed for ‘Cuckooing’ Vulnerable Victim in Gravesend
Ajani Alexander-Maye, 22, has been locked up for exploiting a vulnerable person’s home in Gravesend to push crack cocaine and heroin.
Drug Den Discovered in Milton Area
Officers from the North Kent Community Safety Unit swooped on a property in Milton after reports it was taken over by dealers. When police arrived just after 4pm on December 7, 2019, they were initially refused entry – forcing their way inside.
Inside the kitchen they found Alexander-Maye and seized a haul worth up to £6,000 – including heroin, crack, cannabis, cash, and phones riddled with drug texts.
Alexander-Maye Used Victim’s Home as Drug HQ
He used a victim’s house like a base, coming and going on a motorcycle while dealing class A drugs. The vile practice, known as ‘cuckooing’, sees dealers prey on society’s most vulnerable.
Sentenced to 2 Years and 8 Months
The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply class A drugs and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on December 19, 2019.
“Cuckooing is a terrible offence where dealers prey on the most vulnerable in society in order to run drug operations,” said DC Mark Donovan, North Kent CID. “Thankfully Alexander-Maye’s despicable behaviour has now led to him being in custody and unable to harm others.”
If you suspect cuckooing or know someone at risk, contact the police immediately.
