Two Men Found Guilty of Kidnap and Rape in Shock Northampton Crimes
Two Northampton men have been convicted of kidnap, rape, and sexual assault after a terrifying weekend of attacks last year.
Brutal Crimes Over One Chilling Weekend
Trofim Midoni, 21, formerly of Queens Road, and 24-year-old Valeriu Frunza, once of Boughton Green Road, were found guilty following an eight-day trial at Northampton Crown Court.
The horrific offences all took place between November 30 and December 2, 2019.
Three Women Attacked in Car and Fields
- The first victim was beaten and sexually assaulted inside the men’s car before she escaped near Ringstead.
- The second woman was also assaulted and abused in the car, then abandoned in a field close to Keyston.
- The final victim suffered sexual assault and was raped inside the car.
Justice Served Thanks to Brave Victims and Public Help
All three women showed incredible courage by reporting the attacks and giving evidence in court. Midoni and Frunza were arrested swiftly and charged.
Detective Inspector Liz Basham hailed the victims’ bravery, saying, “The bravery that these women have shown throughout this trial cannot be commended highly enough.”
She added, “Thanks to the public who stepped forward with vital evidence, justice has been served for these three brave women.”
Midoni and Frunza will be sentenced on Friday, November 20, at Northampton Crown Court.
