Man Charged With Murder After Shocking Padiham Death
Police rushed to Coronation Avenue at 10:33 a.m. on November 25 after reports of a sudden death.
Emergency crews found 57-year-old Stephen dead inside the property. A Home Office post-mortem revealed he died from multiple abdominal wounds and a scalp injury.
Suspect Held and Charged
Wayne Dawson, 57, from Burnley Road, Padiham, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was charged on Friday following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Dawson has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Lancashire magistrates this weekend.
Investigation Ongoing – Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
“Although we have now charged a man, our investigation into Stephen’s death continues,” said DCI Allen Davies of the Force Major Investigation Team. “We are appealing for anyone who was in the West View Terrace area of Padiham between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on November 24 to come forward if they saw anything or have footage.”
Stephen’s family has been kept informed of all developments. “My thoughts are with them,” added DCI Davies.
Neighbours Pay Tribute to Beloved Local
Stephen’s family described him as “very well known” in the community. He was often seen walking his dog, Murphy.
“Stephen was always chatty and pleasant. He was very well-liked,” they said in a heartfelt tribute.
