Ex-Sevenoaks Man Jailed for 18 Years Over Horrific 1990s Child Abuse
Stefan Farbrother’s Reign of Terror Uncovered
Stefan Farbrother, once a resident of Sevenoaks, has been slammed with an 18-year jail term for a brutal, years-long campaign of sexual abuse against a child during the 1990s. The crimes, including multiple rapes and indecent assaults, stretched across five harrowing years.
Police Crack Case After 2018 Report
The nightmare only came to light in 2018 when concerns were raised with Kent Police. That sparked a relentless investigation, ending in Farbrother’s arrest in June 2018. He faced thirteen charges for offences committed between 1991 and 1997 – including seven counts of rape.
Guilty Verdict at Maidstone Crown Court
Farbrother, now 47 and living in Halifax, West Yorkshire, denied all allegations but was found guilty on every charge at Maidstone Crown Court in October 2023. On 22 January 2024, he was sentenced to 18 years behind bars. He’s also been slapped with a lifelong sex offenders register order and a sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery
“Farbrother targeted the victim over many years,” said Detective Sergeant Adam Ferguson, who led the Kent Police investigation.
“He subjected them to an appalling campaign of abuse, using violence and threats, including handcuffs and holding a knife to their throat.”
DS Ferguson added, “I want to thank the victim for their incredible bravery. It’s never too late to report a sexual offence. You will be believed.”
