London Underground Passengers Get Free Wi-Fi at Major Stations
Good news for Tube travellers! Free Wi-Fi is now available at some of the London Underground’s busiest stations, thanks to several mobile phone providers rolling out connectivity services.
4G and 5G Expanding Deep Underground
The network is rapidly upgrading. Passengers can now surf the web on Elizabeth line platforms, escalators, and ticket halls at top stations like Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street. With more sections being fitted with 4G and 5G coverage, staying connected while deep underground is becoming the new norm.
Massive Coverage Plans by End of 2024
Within the next two years, a significant chunk of the entire Tube network will be covered by 4G and 5G. By the end of 2024, expect near-complete mobile coverage across the London Underground and Overground lines.
Mobile Providers Offering Wi-Fi and Connectivity
- Free Wi-Fi is available from EE, 1, Three, and O2 (Wifi Extra).
- 4G and 5G services come from Three, EE, Vodafone, Virgin Media, O2, and Sky Mobile.
Getting online is simple: your phone should automatically connect to the free Wi-Fi as soon as you enter the station or board a train, provided your device has wireless internet enabled.
